my current research explores Yoko Ono’s pioneering role in participatory and conceptual art, with a focus on her performance Cut Piece (1964). It traces how the work has been interpreted over time—as a gesture of self-sacrifice, a feminist statement, and a meditation on violence and peace. Drawing from Ono’s own reflections and critical voices across decades, I am working to highlight her influence on later artists and the evolving ethical, political, and emotional dimensions of her practice.
